Hello and welcome to my wonderful utopian World.
My name is Pieter De Cuyper and I am an architect and collage artist based in Europe. I am a visual thinker and love to translate complex ideas into captivating drawings and images. This passion fuels my desire to bridge the gap between academic research and public understanding.
My collages primarily exist in 2D, crafted as both physical and digital works. However, I also explore the realm of 3D installations, creating immersive spatial experiences.
Academic & Artistic Background
In 2020, I graduated with honors (Dipl.-Ing.) from the Technical University of Vienna. My master's thesis, "Architecture and Utopias," used the lens of utopian ideals to explore the social and political forces shaping architecture. This project combined theoretical research with a series of collages that visually depicted these architectural movements and developments.
Building on my academic achievements, I secured a coveted position on the design team for the Austrian pavilion, "Platform Austria," at the 2020 Venice Biennale of Architecture. Curated by Peter Mörtenböck and Helge Mooshammer, this prestigious project allowed me to contribute my design expertise. Additionally, I created two monumental 3x5 meter collages titled "Onstage/Offstage," meticulously composed from over 3,500 individual images.
